Prepared for Bloom Build
Hey Jack…

I spent some time going through Bloom Build. Found a few opportunities I'd be looking at if I were running your email marketing.

I went through your website, looked at how you're collecting subscribers, and signed up as a customer to see what happens after someone starts buying.

I've put together a few ideas, including a new popup, some emails I'd test against your current ones, and a plan for turning more $5 sample orders into full tile purchases.

I've even written a few of the emails so you can see what I mean.

Have a look.

Why I wrote this

I should probably explain why I've spent time putting together a report about a tile company I've never spoken to.

Two reasons, actually.

  1. I genuinely enjoy doing this.

I spend a ridiculous amount of time looking at how businesses use email to make sales.

Sometimes I'll find a company doing something particularly clever and spend an afternoon figuring out why it works.

Other times I'll find something I'd change immediately.

And when I can turn those ideas into more sales for a client, that's a pretty satisfying way to make a living.

  2. This is how I find clients.

I could send you an email saying I'm an excellent copywriter and email marketer.

But you'd have absolutely no reason to believe me.

So I figured I'd do some of the work first and let you decide whether it's any good.

That's what this report is.

I've included some ideas you can use straight away, along with examples of what I'd actually write for Bloom Build.

At the end, there's a link to book a call if you'd like to talk about working together.

And if not, you're welcome to steal the ideas.

I won't send anyone around to collect royalties :-)

P.S. I haven't seen the inside of your Klaviyo account, so this is based on what I could observe as a visitor and prospective customer.

The emails

There's something particularly interesting about your $5 sample offer.

Someone who orders three samples is doing more than browsing.

They've found tiles they like enough to pay for, and they're considering putting them somewhere in their home.

That's a pretty good indication of buying intent.

But the $5 transaction isn't where the real money is.

It's what happens afterward.

I'd build an email sequence specifically for sample buyers, timed around when their samples arrive.

The emails would help them compare what they've received, answer the questions that come up before placing a large order, and give them a reason to come back and buy the tiles they liked.

Here's an example of one of those emails.

Sample-to-full-order email

Sent a few days after the customer's tile samples arrive.

did we send you the wrong tiles?

J
Jack at Bloom
to me

Hopefully not :-)

But I wanted to check in because your samples should have arrived by now, and sometimes people order tiles thinking they'll look one way...

Then get them home and discover something completely different.

Seriously, you can spend three weeks looking at photos online, finally decide you've found THE ONE, order a sample...

And then put it next to your bathroom wall and decide you liked the other one better.

Anyway, if you've found one you love, I've got something for you.

>> Here's where you can order the full-size tiles.

You'll be able to work out how many square metres you need and see what the whole thing will cost.

And if the samples weren't quite right, have another look around.

We've got plenty more to choose from.

Thanks!

Jack,
CEO at Bloom Build

P.S. If you have questions about the tiles you ordered or if you're still deciding, just reply to this email and tell us which samples you're comparing

I also went through your checkout process and received your abandonment emails.

You're already doing something right here: you're following up.

I received four emails after leaving my order unfinished.

One of them explained why Bloom Build can sell tiles for less than traditional showrooms.

I like that selling point.

But I think there's an opportunity to make the email more persuasive.

Because someone who has already added a few thousand dollars' worth of tiles to their cart probably knows what they cost.

The more interesting question is what's stopping them from completing the purchase.

Maybe they're unsure about quantities. Maybe they have delivery questions. Or maybe they're still wondering whether ordering that much tile online is a good idea.

I'd test an email that deals with those concerns and makes it easier to finish the order.

Here's what I mean.

to me

Hey [First Name],

I noticed you didn't finish ordering your tiles.

Now, I have no idea why.

Maybe you got distracted, maybe you're still comparing options, or maybe you're wondering whether ordering a few thousand dollars' worth of tiles online is a spectacularly bad idea.

(That last one I can understand.)

After all, it's a lot of money to spend on something that's going to be glued to your floor for the next decade or two.

So I wanted to tell you a couple of things.

First, we sell directly from the factory, which means you're not paying for a showroom, a bunch of middlemen, and whatever else gets added to the price along the way.

In fact, some of our tiles are priced up to 70% below traditional retail, and we even show you our 20% margin on the product pages.

You can see exactly where your money goes.

Now, if you're still hesitating because you're not sure how many boxes you need, there's a tile calculator on our website.

We recommend adding 15% for cuts and breakages, so you don't end up halfway through your bathroom renovation wondering where you're going to find another four boxes of the exact same tile.

(Not a particularly fun problem to have.)

And if you're worried about damaged tiles or how long delivery takes, have a look at our shipping information before ordering.

If anything's unclear, just reply to this email and ask.

We'd rather help you get everything sorted BEFORE you spend a few thousand dollars.

Anyway, once you're happy with everything, your tiles are still sitting in your cart.

You can pick up where you left off here.

>> Go here to finish your order

Cheers,
The Bloom Build Team

P.S. One last thing...

We recommend ordering everything you need in one go because tiles from different production batches can vary slightly in colour.

Those are just two examples, but they illustrate how I'd approach the rest of your email marketing.

Look at what the customer is trying to do, work out what might be stopping them, and write something that helps move them toward the next purchase.

And then test whether it actually works.

The automations

Now, here's where things get interesting.

You don't need someone manually sending an email every time a customer orders samples, leaves a cart behind or receives a delivery.

Klaviyo can handle all of that.

The important part is getting the timing and the messaging right.

For Bloom Build, I'd concentrate on the journey from first visit to full tile order.

Someone discovers your website.

They join the list.

They order samples.

They find something they like.

And eventually, they place a much larger order.

Along the way, there are several opportunities to follow up automatically.

I'd start with the five automations below, then introduce the remaining two once the main customer journey is working properly.

High priority 01

Welcome Flow

Convert new email subscribers into buyers of the 3-for-$5 tile sample offer, personalised by renovation project.

High priority 02

Sample-to-Full-Order Flow

Turn $5 sample buyers into customers placing full tile orders worth hundreds or thousands of dollars.

High priority 03

Cart & Checkout Abandonment Flows

Recover abandoned purchases, with separate messaging for sample orders and full tile orders.

High priority 04

Browse Abandonment Flow

Re-engage visitors who viewed specific tiles but left without adding anything to their cart.

High priority 05

Post-Purchase Flow

Provide delivery and installation guidance, encourage reviews and referrals, and introduce relevant cross-sell opportunities.

Later 06

Customer Winback Flow

Re-engage previous customers when they're considering their next renovation project.

Later 07

Subscriber Re-engagement Flow

Reconnect with inactive subscribers and maintain a healthy, engaged email list.

Priority: Build and optimise flows 1–5 first, then introduce flows 6–7 as the program develops.

The weekly emails

Here's something else I'd do.

I'd start emailing your subscribers regularly.

And no, I don't mean sending everyone a 10% discount every Tuesday.

You've got an entire catalogue of tiles, customers renovating different parts of their homes, and plenty of opportunities to give people reasons to visit the website.

Take October, for example.

Christmas is about ten weeks away.

There are probably quite a few Australians looking at their backyards right now and remembering the outdoor renovations they promised themselves they'd finish before summer.

That's an opportunity to send an email featuring your outdoor tiles.

In January, the angle might be completely different.

And throughout the year, there are customer renovations to showcase, products to introduce, design ideas to share, and questions worth answering.

I'd plan 5–15 campaigns each month around those opportunities.

But I wouldn't send all 15 to everyone.

Someone who bought samples last week needs different information from someone who finished their bathroom renovation six months ago.

The goal is to keep the broader audience interested in Bloom Build while making the more targeted emails relevant to what each person is actually doing.

Here's how I'd split the audience.

Bloom Build
to me

Can you believe it's October already?

Good Lord!

Which means we're getting dangerously close to that time of year when Australians invite half their extended family over, buy enough food to feed a small army, and pretend we're delighted that Uncle Barry has decided to stay another three hours. Lovely stuff.

... Or Christmas, as some people call it.

Anyway, I've got a question for you.

Are you hosting Christmas this year?

Because if you are, there's a decent chance somebody's going to suggest having everyone outside.

Which sounds lovely.

Until you remember the patio you've been meaning to do something about since February.

Because if you're still planning to get it done before everyone turns up in December, you might want to have a look at the calendar.

You've got roughly ten weeks.

And there's a small problem with that...

You can buy outdoor tiles fairly quickly.

Getting a tiler to show up in December?

Well, I'd rather not make any promises on behalf of Australia's tilers :-)

So if you've been putting off the patio, courtyard, or outdoor entertaining area, this would be a pretty good week to start getting things organised.

We've got outdoor tiles at Bloom Build, sold directly from the factory.

And because we don't have a showroom to pay for, some of our tiles cost up to 70% less than traditional retail.

Which could leave a bit more money for the Christmas festivities.

Or the renovation you inevitably decide to start next.

Anyway, you can have a look at the outdoor range here.

>> Go Here to Shop Outdoor Tiles

And before you order, check with your tiler about timing. I'd hate for you to have a pallet of beautiful new tiles sitting in the driveway while everyone's eating Christmas lunch on the old patio.

Cheers,
The Bloom Build Team

P.S. If you're choosing tiles for somewhere that gets wet, check the slip rating and whether they're suitable for outdoor use. Looking good is important. Staying upright is pretty important too.

What Would 5 Extra Tile Orders a Month Be Worth?

Let's do some very simple maths.

Say your average full tile order is $2,000.

And let's say that between the new popup, abandoned checkout emails, sample follow-ups, and weekly campaigns, we manage to generate just 5 additional orders each month.

$2,000average full tile order
5additional orders each month
$10,000extra in monthly revenue
$120,000over a year

And that's from just five extra orders.

Now, I obviously don't have access to your sales figures, so I'm using $2,000 as an example here.

Your actual numbers might be higher or lower.

But that's what makes this interesting.

We don't necessarily need thousands of additional customers to make a meaningful difference.

We need to get a few more of the people already visiting Bloom Build to complete their purchases.

And that's exactly what the ideas in this report are designed to do.

So, what happens next?

Option 1

Take the ideas and implement them yourself.

Seriously.

Take whatever you find useful in this report and try it.

If something makes Bloom Build more money, fantastic.

I'd be delighted to hear about it.

Option 2

Let me implement them for you.

If you'd rather have someone take care of all this, that's where I come in.

I'd handle your email marketing, including:

  • Building and testing the new popup.
  • Writing and optimising your automated email sequences.
  • Planning, writing, designing and sending 5–15 email campaigns each month.
  • Segmenting your audience so customers receive relevant emails.
  • Monitoring results and improving what's working.

We'd start with the things most likely to make an immediate difference, particularly capturing more subscribers and converting more sample buyers into full-order customers.

Then we'd continue developing the automations and running weekly campaigns.

If this sounds interesting, book a call and we can talk through what I'd do first.

Book a call
Seriously.

If Our Call Isn't Worth Your Time, I'll Pay You $500.

You've just spent a few minutes looking through the ideas I've put together for Bloom Build.

And you've probably got a few questions.

Maybe you're wondering how much extra revenue these automations could generate.

Or what I'd change about the emails you're currently sending.

Or whether any of this is worth bothering with in the first place.

Fair enough.

So here's my offer.

Book a call with me, and I'll come prepared with a plan for how I'd improve Bloom Build's email marketing over the next 90 days.

We'll go through the opportunities I've found, what I'd prioritise, and how I'd approach getting more visitors to order samples and more sample buyers to place full orders.

You'll walk away with ideas you can implement yourself.

And if you genuinely feel the conversation wasn't worth your time?

I'll send you $500.

No need to hire me. No awkward sales pitch afterward.

Why would I offer that?

Because I've already spent time studying your business and putting this report together.

I'm confident I can make another hour worthwhile.

And if we end up working together, great.

If not, you'll still have a plan you can use.
